Dia Chinese New Year Celebration says
Celebrate the Chinese New Year at the Detroit Institute of Arts with performances of a traditional dragon dance, artist demonstrations, displays, workshops and more. Activities, which are sponsored by the DIA's Friends of Asian Arts and Culture, take place in the Great Hall, Rivera Court, Detroit Film Theatre and Student Lunchroom. The program is free with museum admission and for residents of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. The schedule is:

Saturday, Feb. 11

Noon and 2 p.m. - Performances in Detroit Film Theatre
Dragon dance, tai chi sword (yang style), Chinese martial arts (shaolin kung fu) and Chinese yo-yo

1 and 3 p.m. - Demonstrations in Rivera Court
Chinese calligraphy and painting, Chinese opera

Sunday, Feb. 12

Noon and 2 p.m. - Performances and demonstrations in Rivera Court
Chinese music, tai chi quan (chen style) and Chinese opera

1 and 3 p.m.
Chinese calligraphy and painting

There will be displays in the Great Hall and hands-on activities in the Student Lunchroom both Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
