Performance of Ornette Coleman's music by Andrew Bishop, Stephen Rush, Jeremy Edwards and Tim Flood follows

Stephen Rush is a professor at the University of Michigan, where he has taught for 30 years. He studied with third-stream pioneer Gunther Schuller, David Liptak and Samuel Adler, and is the author of the new book, “Free Jazz, Harmolodics and Ornette Coleman,” which includes extensive interviews with the jazz master himself. Rush will read from his new book, which includes excerpts from an exclusive first-person interview.

As a musician, Rush has performed with Roscoe Mitchell, Henry Grimes, Eugene Chadbourne, Steve Swell and many others. He has also premiered and performed work by John Cage, Phillip Glass and LaMonte Young and recorded with the recently passed Pauline Oliveros. For this evening, he will be joined by Andrew Bishop, Jeremy Edwards and Tim Flood follows to perform Coleman's music.
