Hydro Park is a synthesizers and rhythm section quartet, featuring the ever-prolific Michigan music-meister Fred Thomas on half of the synth battery. Bouncy and brainy, these instrumentals keep it rhythmic with a spare and driving that is reminiscent of Kraut Rock and the early synth-pop pioneers.
With Gardener (Chicago, IL) Dash Lewis uses a modular synthesizer, effects pedals, and his own voice to create intricately layered, rhythmically complex slabs of trance-inducing psychedelia deeply influenced by Harmonia, Lichens, and Ariel Kalma. A Gardener set ranges from 25-30 minutes and consists of a single composition encouraging deep listening.
Divine Circles is the solo project of Asheville's Meg Mulhearn, who creates pastoral psych-folk with layered, mutating violin loops. When joined by multi-instrumentalist David Lynch, the two form Lunar Creature, focusing on heavy, textural drones. Though technically two projects, the Divine Circles + Lunar Creature set runs approximately 30 minutes and seamlessly transitions from one project to the next.
