Belle Isle Conservancy says
Please note: NO fish will be transferred at this festival!

Traditionally, the Belle Isle Aquarium’s collection of koi fish have been celebrated at the annual koi transfer. With renovations to the lily pond being made to sustain life outdoors for the fish year-round, the koi transfer will not be held.

In its place, the Belle Isle Conservancy will host an annual Koi Festival, a family friendly event on the first Saturday of May (in correlation with Japan’s Koinobori Festival and Children’s Day celebrated on May 5th). This inaugural event will celebrate Japanese culture and the significance of the the koi fish.

Activities include:
Japanese calligraphy watercolor painting
Koinobori wind streamer craft activity
YoYo Tsuri water balloon fishing game
Taiko Drummers
and More to come!

Have a taste of Japan with "Ponyo" ramen and a variety of iced teas available for purchase.
