Five Pound Snap says
~ The Scenics (Toronto, ON)
http://www.thescenics.com/

The Scenics are are a Toronto proto-punk band that played between 1976 and 1982, and again since 2008. "the most creative, the most original, the most daring, and the most misunderstood band in that scene" Colin Brunton, film-maker, the Last Pogo, Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

~ Glyders (Chicago, IL)

Although Glyders song titles stem from slang of the present (the band's latest EP, "Dim," includes titles like "BRB" and "Open Up Yr Heart"), the music sounds pulled from the past. "BRB," the first track on the EP, channels '90s British pop by way of classic influences like the Beatles and Stone Roses. There is a breeziness to the tracks — simplicity and straightforward melodies let the songs embed themselves in the listener's psyche. At times, the music might sound like unremembered nostalgia, like a group of voracious millennials devouring the past and creating interpretations of it in the present, but taking care to not steer too much into a throwback act. It is music that charms, without the appearance of effort. -Chicago Tribune
