Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History says
Now seen as a “Comeback City,” according to popular perception Detroit was left behind following the 1967 rebellion. However, its residents and lifelong supporters have always seen its potential, and a major turning point was the election and leadership of Mayor Coleman A. Young. This panel discussion is moderated by Shahida Mausi Johnson, Former Director of the Detroit Council of the Arts, and President, The Right Productions; with panelists Bernice Grier, Sister; Honorable Adam Shakoor, Esq., Former Deputy Mayor; Attorney Charlie Williams, Former Chief of Staff; Coleman A. Young II, Son and Michigan State Senator. Also featured will be a book signing for "Hard Stuff: The Autobiography of Mayor Coleman Young" by Coleman Young and Lonnie Wheeler.
