The opening event of this year's Fires de Girona

Get into the spirit of Girona's annual 'festa major', aka the 'Fires de Girona', a week-long festival that celebrates the city's patron saint, Sant Narcís, with the 'pregó'. This is the opening event of the festival, and this year it features Els Marrecs, a human tower group from nearby Salt. After the opening speech, there'll be fireworks and a ring of fire surrounding all the city's neighbourhoods (from Montjuïc to Font de la Pólvora) and then Els Marrecs will perform, followed by a concert by the Always Drinking Marxing Band. As always, the action takes place in Plaça del Vi.
