Artist Reception: Geoff Winningham: Of The Soil

Enjoy light refreshments and conversation with the artist in the BRC's Pop-Up Gallery. Winningham's work on view will be from his most recent project, Of the Soil: Photographs of Vernacular Architecture and Stories of Changing Times in Arkansas.

The BRC is located at 6500 Main Street (at the corner of Main and University). Paid parking is available in the BRC garage located on Dryden.

Geoff Winningham holds the Lynette S. Autrey Chair in the Humanities at Rice University. His most recent project, Of the Soil: Photographs of Vernacular Architecture and Stories of Changing Times in Arkansas, captures folk architecture of the region and the stories that accompany them. Winningham has published ten books related to Texas and Mexican culture. His photographs are in many major collections in the United States, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

The exhibition and event are free and open to the public. Sponsored by Rice Public Art.
