Rice University Public Art says
Please join Rice Public Art for an opening reception for artist Susannah Mira.

Susannah Mira makes sculptural installations from discarded materials. By transforming cast-off items through a labor intensive handwork process, her work confronts notions of consumption, value, and the environmental impact of material trends. Loose Ends incorporates thousands of salvaged plastic display hooks.

Mira earned a master’s degree in environmental art at the University of Art & Design Helsinki in 2008. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, and has been awarded numerous artist residencies, including Anderson Ranch Arts Center and McColl Center for Art + Innovation. Based in Houston for the past three years, she is also a proud member of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs team at Rice.

Remarks at 11:45 am. Paid parking is available in the lot beneath the building; entrance at the corner of Dryden at Main Street.

Sponsored by Rice Public Art. This project is funded by a grant from the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
