Houston Arboretum & Nature Center says
The Houston Arboretum wants to sincerely thank you for your interest in our Kayaking class. Due to the multiple weekend storms this class has had a difficult time making. So, I am sorry to say that there are also strong thunderstorms forecasted for April 2, 2017 and to ensure the safety of the participants, in addition to coming into the rainy season, the instructor has decided to cancel the class.

We understand the disappointment this may cause, as we are equally disappointed, and so the instructor, Tiffany Ritter, has researched some other places to enjoy kayaking.

Other locations around town where you can learn the basics and experience kayaking:
Kayak at Discovery Green! Take a few laps around Kinder Lake where it’s shallow and no current. Excellent place for first timers.
Take a tour with Bayou City Outdoors. Guides will teach you everything you need to know before you get in the water, and they provide all the equipment and shuttling to be able to experience a trip down Buffalo Bayou.
When you’re ready to explore on your own, you can rent a kayak or canoe from Austin Kayak for the day, the weekend, or longer!
