World Affairs Council of Greater Houston says
For the past two years, China's rise in geoeconomics has taken a new step with the creation of new international financial institutions such as the Asian Investment Infrastructure Bank (AIIB) and the launch of the "One Belt, One Road" Initiative. The internationalization of the RMB has begun, along with Chinese outbound investments with recent increases in Europe and the United States. Meanwhile, China is increasing its outreach in other areas such as diplomacy, soft power, and the military. What are the challenges facing the international community and how do these problems affect the U.S. and Europe?

To answer these questions, the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston is hosting Philippe Le Corre, a fellow with The Brookings Institution. He is a former advisor on Asia to the French Minister of Defense and a former Foreign Correspondent in China. His research focuses on China's foreign policy, Chinese economic diplomacy, and soft power outreach. Le Corre will be presenting his new book, China's Offensive in Europe, which will be available for purchase and signing after the event.
