Back by popular demand: Meeting of Minds is back in February.

Meeting of Minds is a get-together to discuss a wide variety of ethical, philosophical, and other relevant topics in an environment of respect, compassion and kindness.

In the past we have discussed topics such as: Dying with Dignity, the ethics of Organ transplantation, Where do atheists get morality and the ethics of Incarceration and the Death Penalty. Kind, respectful and compassionate conversation is expected of each participant.

The topic of discussion will be The Ethics Surrounding Gun Control.

As always with Meeting of Minds, your ability to explore the issues from a variety of angles is important. Some of the questions we will explore are:Why were guns invented? Why do people own guns? Why do people not own guns? What are the arguments for a country/government to strictly regulate gun ownership (or outright forbid it)? What are the arguments for a country/government to not regulate or to limit the regulation of gun ownership? As it was in preceding Meeting of Minds, I would ask you to set your opinion aside and challenge you to argue for the point of view you do NOT agree with. This is a theoretical/ethical discussion rather than an impassioned debate!
