At the time of Michael Brown’s shooting death in Ferguson , August 2014, Rev. Taves served our congregation in Chesterfield, an affluent white western suburb of St. Louis. She will share stories of how our congregations sought to wake up and show up for those rising up for Black Lives. Rev. Taves is an active member of Metropolitan Congregations United, which harnesses the moral power of religious communities to advocate for systemic policy changes to support the wellbeing of all St. Louis residents. MCU’s current focus is to break the school to prison pipeline that traps so many people of color. Rev. Krista Taves
