The Sidemen says
If any band has the pedigree to work the main stage at The Last Concert Cafe, it would be The SIDEMEN. This trio has over 40 combined years at Houston's legendary live music venue and possesses a repertoire that spans many genre and generations. For 28 years, The Hightailers were a Thursday night fixture at LCC. Rain, shine, hurricane, or flood, The Hightailers could be counted on to appear and to give their utmost. Truth in advertising, the SIDEMEN were the sidemen for the Hightailers. Randy Wall was not only keyboardist and vocalist sideman for The Hightailers, but one of the most highly rated and employed session musicians in Houston and the roundabout hereunto. Randy Woodard was the percussive sideman for the Hightailers for more years than the law would presently allow and was also their lighting manager and sound engineer. Jimb Jackson was the bass sideman for The Hightailers, guitarist for Beans Barton and The Bipeds, and a natty dresser. These three are also integral parts of POTROAST, a band of local professional musicians who mingle together in various permutations to play The Last Concert on Wednesday nights (for over 20 years). The music of The SIDEMEN reflects influences of The Highttailers and POTROAST, but primarily features material and arrangements of The SIDEMEN . It is different, and it is the same, and I can't really explain that. You just need to hear (see) it to understand. Since these three players will always be The Sidemen, they invite various FRONTMEN to join them each week. It's like a different band each time you hear them. Tuesdays will never be the same. From 9 til 1. Join us.
