Tequila Interchange Project Nom 070 Discussion & Mezcal Tasting says
The legal definition of mezcal is currently being reconsidered in Mexico, and obviously, this will have an enormous impact on the traditions and producers who maintain them in Mexico. This is your chance to learn more and get involved! PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT IS AT BLACKSMITH, NOT THE PASTRY WAR.

This event, open to the public, will involve an in-depth discussion of these changes and how they impact producers. As we proceed through this tasting, Bobby Heugel will provide mezcals from various regions in Mexico – recognized by the Appelation of Origin and not – from his house that are not available in the United States at all! The discussion will be led Bobby Heugel and Alba Huerta.

To learn more, click the link below and watch a video about traditional mezcal production, and sign the petition supporting small and artisanal mezcal distillers.

Who is the Tequila Interchange Project?

The Tequila Interchange Project (TIP) is a non-profit organization and consumer advocacy group for agave distilled spirits comprised of bartenders, consultants, educators, researchers, consumers and tequila enthusiasts. The organization advocates the preservation of sustainable, traditional and quality practices in the industries of agave distilled spirits. In light of concerning trends that are currently becoming mainstays in the production of agave distillates, TIP seeks to place a renewed emphasis on the importance of preserving the great heritage of agave distillation in Mexico http://www.facebook.com/TequilaInterchangeProject
