The Inner Landscape: Butoh Workshop With Brandon Fisette says
"The inner life is the motivation for Butoh. It is the practice of leading from inside yourself, living from your true nature in all ways." - Maureen Freehill

"I would never jump or leave the ground; it is on the ground that I dance" - Tatsumi Hijikata

There is a misconception that human beings are something separate from the earth. We tend to live in a way that keeps this illusion alive. Even in our language we say we live ON earth instead of WITH or AS earth. This workshop will inquire into how we can mend this fissure through embodied practices designed to open up our natural channels to the subtle reality of our union with our inner and outer landscapes.

Inspired by research into Grounding/Earthing, butoh, physical theatre, ritual, and the movement research which Brandon has been practicing for the past three years, this workshop will guide both performers and non-performers through a series of new practices to collectively inquire into what can be done to achieve an embodied state which can reconcile this disconnection.

Brandon Fisette is a nomadic actor, dancer, and performance artist. They have been performing butoh in both solo works and ensemble productions. Brandon is trained in traditional theatre as well as butoh and has worked with Vangeline in Brooklyn, NY and the performance ensemble Bad Unkl Sista in Nevada City, CA. Brandon was also seen in Houston as part of the Ivan Daniel Espinoza's piece Avarice. As well as practicing butoh, Brandon writes and creates music and works with the revolutionary experimental theatre ensemble The Living Theatre based in New York City.
