Texas Art Asylum says
This series of work is centered around the artist's variant perception of reality. Like many people, he dreams when he sleeps, but in waking life, it is often difficult discerning between his dreams and actual memories. He spends many moments filtering an alternate existence into what he sees.
This series exhibits the hybridization of the present world and the world that exists only in his mind. With the use of found photographs and gouache paints, static moments in time are shifted into a colorful existence where dreaming is remembering.

About the artist:

Tres Hoyt grew up in South Texas and now resides in Austin. He studied painting at Texas State and has exhibited his artwork throughout the U.S. as well as Hong Kong.
He has been an active participant in Houston's own Meeting of Styles, Hanksy's Surplus Candy LA and Art Basel Miami.
Tres primarily works with aerosol paint for larger creations and acrylic, gouache and ink for smaller pieces. His work is considered "low brow" with elements of science fiction and a graffiti style based in vibrant colors and bold line work.
When he is not pursuing artistic endeavors, he considers himself a connoisseur of fine dried meats and fermented grains.
