A popular meeting spot on İstiklal Caddesi, the Fitaş building keeps attracting new businesses on its quest to become a full-fledged entertainment centre. First came the cinemas and gaming areas on the ground floor (as well as several restaurants not necessarily worth mentioning), followed by Bowl Room on the fifth floor, which is fast on its way to becoming the best bowling joint in Istanbul.
Nowadays, Fitaş beckons visitors with a brand new space: Topless Terrace. At 1,200m2, this is perhaps the largest terrace you’ll find in Beyoğlu (it’s possible that Topless singlehandedly tries to make up for all the tables that were removed from the streets in Asmalımescit). It’s rather disconcerting to have your eye drawn towards the rundown roofs of buildings nearby as you’re taking in the Haliç view, but it could be said that they have their own charm.
The venue boasts a spacious bar where you’ll find almost all the classic cocktails, while the food menu is the same as Bowl Room’s (the salad comes especially recommended). Topless is more of an event space than a restaurant, and despite having been opened only a short while ago, it’s already become popular with the Wednesday night tango crowd. This month, Topless also gears up to host Topless Open Air Fest.
