Urbanscapes 2016: Cannot Be Bo(a)rdered

Skateboarding is a sport as it is a form of selfexpression. Sixteen artists and collectives from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia – including Speak Cryptic (Singapore), Nizam Rahmat (Malaysia) and curator of the wildly popular ArtJog in Yogyakarta, Bambang Toko (Indonesia) – challenge existing stereotypes and reconstruct new narratives in skate culture through their artworks using skateboards. The exhibition will also clue you in on a blend of popular subcultures today – urban, street, DIY and visual culture.
