43rd German Film Weekend: The Tower

Christian Schwochow 2012 (DE) Set in Dresden of the 1980s, the film depicts the grim last decade of East Germany. Christian Hoffmann is still in high school but he’s eager to study medicine. His father, Richard, is a doctor, while his uncle is Meno Rohde, an editor at a publishing house specialising in fine editions. However, the inevitable military service is preventing him from pursuing his dreams at university.
