Following Armando Iannucci’s wildly brilliant British political series ‘The Thick of It’ is ‘Veep’, its American counterpart. Joining forces again with his trusty sidekick Simon Blackwell, Iannucci uses the same BBC-style production we’ve seen in the past. The show follows Selina Meyer, vice president of the USA (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and her series of encounters with her bumbling staff. The humour draws less from the callous profanity of its predecessor but is no less funny. Comedy and politics sometimes go hand in hand, and in this instance, definitely so.
