If you’re of a pernickety nature, building your own burger is the best route to satisfaction. Start with the bun – a fluffy white sesame seed one for the traditionalists, a wholemeal option for healthy eaters or a honey oat variant for the artisans. Then your choice of beef, pork, chicken or lamb patty can be topped with, well, nearly anything.
Our favourites are the super spicy chilli queso and a classic fried egg (pictured), but we’ve also had good times with the caramelised onions, bacon, charred capsicum rings and jalapeno peppers. If you’re feeling fruity, throw on a few slices of grilled banana or pineapple. A good square of melted Cheddar (or Swiss, or Monterey Jack) atop, and then the signature Fatboy’s Homemade BBQ sauce complete the matter. If you’re not a fan of the barbeque sauce, try their roasted garlic aioli, curry remoulade, bleu cheese dressing, peanut butter or... Nutella? Maybe too much choice can be a bad thing.
