There’s always room for more Korean cosmetics – BB creams have just hit the big time worldwide and the Hallyu wave is still going strong. Popular perception has it that Korean skincare giants can do no wrong, which is a handy sentiment for Too Cool For School to enter the Malaysian market on. The new Korean brand has a lot going for it – a low key, quirky store in Bangsar and a whole host of cutesy packaging.
If you’re alarmed by doll heads, it’s probably best to stay away – the Bangsar store uses them liberally as decoration, as well as what appear to be dismembered doll hands. But the products stocked between the body parts are more innovative than you’d imagine. Colour correctors, BB creams, eye-enlarging (appearance) products – standard tools of the Korean cosmetic trade, but they also have lovely lip products (including those that turn colour on your skin), perfumed body washes and many, many skincare ranges. Look out for the queasily named McGirly, which employs the botanical benefits of rice and rice wine for a whole face range, and the Morocco Ghassoul range that deep cleanses pores.
