Time Out says

Launched in September 2018, this self-styled ‘multi-arts space for the 21st century’ is an ambitious restoration of the formerly derelict Savoy Cinema. Its slightly ungainly name is short for ‘Evolutionary Arts Hackney’, but the programming is trendy and accessible rather than too highfalutin. There are two atmospheric event spaces – the seated upstairs theatre, and downstairs concert hall which is standing only – and they’re already proving a popular stop-off for discerning artists. Indie heroes Lambchop and soul siren Andreya Triana played EartH in 2019, pop queens Little Mix launched their latest album here in late 2018, while bouncy electronic maestro Danny L Harle held his head-whacking Harlecore night downstairs in 2022.

What’s on

Planet Trash

  • Clubs

Your bank holiday could literally be catapulted out of this world at this belter of a drag celebration. Set to host ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ icons such as Darienne Lake (US series 6), Elektra Fence and Kitty Scott-Clause (UK series 3), plus Southern Belle-esque drag queen Taylor Trash, there’ll also be an afterparty set by New York-born DJ T.Q. and dancer and DJ Vivian Bam Bam. This is an 18-plus event, and extraterrestrial dress is an absolute necessity.

Pitchfork Music Festival

Pitchfork Music Festival is back in the UK for its fourth edition in November, with a jam-packed schedule of eclectic live music encompassing everything from avant-rock and post-punk to psych-pop, UK rap and deconstructed dance music. Gigs take place at plenty of the capital’s most illustrious music and nightlife venues, including Fabric, HERE at Outernet, The Village Underground, EartH and The Roundhouse, plus a bunch of atmospheric small venues like the Shacklewell Arms, Hackney Church, Union Chapel and St Mathias Church. The first wave of artists announced for the six-day festival includes the likes of Tierra Whack, Arooj Aftab, CASISDEAD, Sega Bodega, Kae Tempest, Empress Of, Snow Strippers, Shame, Marika Hackman and plenty of up-and-coming acts who will no doubt be on your Spotify Wrapped come December 2025. It’s basically the place to be if you consider yourself as a music fan with a finger on the pulse. Check out the full line-up here.
