Lucian Freud: a career in pictures

View images from three exhibitions celebrating the work of the prolific artist

London is currently awash with exhibitions celebrating the life of Lucian Freud (1922-2011) through painting, drawing and photography. An intimate show of drawings at Blain/Southern, selected by curator William Feaver in association with the artist, coincides with the National Portrait Gallery’s magnificent retrospective of his paintings of friends, lovers, models and family members. Freud’s long-time studio assistant David Dawson recorded the man at work and at rest and his photographs can also be seen here in our gallery dedicated to all things Freudian.
