Matthew Day Jackson takes two of the most recognisable parts of the Western art canon - still lifes and the reclining nude - then subtly subverts them in order to explore traditional art practices, and human impulses to create and destroy. The famous odalisques of art history are here made out of thistles (invasive plants in North America) as the artist questions what we think of as desirable or unwelcome.
