This Fortis Green pub is certainly spacious: the purpose-built dining room is nothing if not capacious, with a look that apes classic gastropub decor; the bar area – also pretty big – has the feel of a traditional pub, although one that's nicely kitted out. There's a garden, too, complete with a huge sycamore tree.

The food changes seasonally, but it sticks to the gastropub vibe. Expect, then, dishes that might include pan-fried organic salmon with crushed Jersey royals, wild garlic and hollandaise, roast corn-fed chicken breast with dauphinoise, asparagus and sunflower seeds, and Creedy Carver duck breast with roast fennel, heritage carrots and black olives.

There's a good selection of draught beer, though many customers take advantage of the choice of 16 wines by the glass.

I am local to the pub and went there for some lunch with my boyfriend over the summer. The pub is nice and well kept. Good seating for groups or some arm chairs for a more intimate hang outs. A little bit cool, with some craft beers etc. It's all nice. the staff are really friendly too,a bit disorganised , but always happy to help. They have a nice size beer garden too,it's leafy and ladened with comfy wooden chairs. The food is standard good pub food. Nothing to write home about but for a quick lunch,it's as good as anywhere else. They do coffee but it is not great but, again,it's not bad. A very average pub Ladies and Gentleman!

Had sunday lunch 26/8/12 and the menu looked promising.Friendly staff took the oredes swiftly and then we waited an age for the food. Unfortunately it was not worth the wait or the money. The vegatables were dry and tasted as if they had been left standing for hours I had the roast beef --two small squares thinly cut that were tough and chewy the chicken was overcooked aand the lamb rump was equally disappointing. However the swordfish was the best dish of the five. There are far better places to eat with cooks that care what they are serving .If you are paying top end prices you would expect much better than the stag dishes out.Best avoided

Terrible. Very rude landlord/Bar Manager. The food was extremely overpriced for what it's worth, £12 for a very mediocre burger and chips?!! I think I'm owed at least £8 of it back, I feel like I've been mugged. Will not be reccommending or returning to this place.

A great place to catch up with friends, and with an ever improving bar snack menu, you don't have to go to the restaurant (but it is worth checking out if you want a great meal). Real ales, Good lager and great wines, the perfect place for everyone!
