This café, open daytimes through evenings, is decked out in a girly nostalgia chic with retro furniture that’s for sale. It is a popular venue for private parties, hen do's and the like.
The café menu’s simple, and limited: sandwiches, tarts, salads, cheese and charcuterie boards. Much effort is made with the pastries, which are displayed on the counter. The selection of teas is excellent, presented in pretty teacups.
In the evenings alcoholic drinks (some with punning names) come into their own: the 'Corrrr… what a pear' consists of spiced rum, lime and apple juice muddled with fresh pear.
There are many events held here, mostly crafts- and dance-oriented. Some are unusual to say the least, such as ‘play with clay Scream’: the opportunity to recreate Munch's famous painting in ceramic.

I brought a gaggle of ladies here for a friend's hen do last weekend, and it was so very lovely. The venue itself is great, and the service was wonderful. Right from organising the event with Grace, who was patient, helpful and very understanding, especially in the face of the inevitable changes to the final numbers- to the staff on the day, who were really lovely and made you feel that nothing was too much trouble. I would also like to say a huge thank you to the lady who did our 'do' (corsages) considering one of our number was hideously late due to a nightmare on the tubes, and another of our number (me) is frankly, a liability with a needle and thread, she was totally unflappable, welcoming and patient and not only got everything done in the time, but we all ended up with lovely corsages(yes, even me) Cocktails, cakes and sandwiches were delicious, and I would definitely come back with friends and recommend it to others.
Fantastic brunch - so reasonable and staff generous with topping up drinks and taking bagel orders. Beaut inside and perfect for a celebration or just a weekend treat!
This place is amazing. so many creative activities to do. Excellent customer service. A must to visit when in the area.
Quirky and full of character. Always offering a huge night, plus have loads of fun, laid back events.
Came by for some cakes and tea but it was very busy and I can see that thay specilaise in hen parties and themed dinners with games. The desserts were nice.
A really fun place. We did a friend's birthday party and there were games, we wore papier mache masks, lots of tea and cakes, music and fun.
Bagels, cake and tea. The wife comes here all the time and their bagels are very good, fresh and I imagine baked right there.
I did the Drink, Shop, Do bottomless Brunch on Sunday 10th July and i knew it was going to be amazing as i love Drink, Shop Do for a night out, however we all loved the bagels and prosecco so much i am definitely re-booking to go back again in a couple of weeks. The food was great- good choice of board games (even tho we were too busy chatting to play them). We left the 2 hours quite tipsy and full of girly gossip (a great Sunday afternoon i would say :))
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Kings Cross is Drink, Shop & Do a coffee shop with a punch! Perfect for catching up with friends over coffee, cake or a cocktail (or two!). Go on grab a board game have a good chuckle! A must visit for me.
I booked a hen do here last weekend and would highly recommend! The staff are really helpful and friendly, and were very understanding about the inevitable last minute changes. We also had a palava with the bill which they made so easy to sort out afterwards! The decorations are lovely, the music is great, the 'do' was really fun and the food/drinks are delicious. The bride had an amazing time so very happy - thank you! :)
I booked afternoon tea and the hen do package; the table was visually stunning, the afternoon tea and drinks arrived promptly and were delicious, and the service was excellent. Can’t recommend highly enough! :)
I have organised two hen parties here now and each time DSD has been great! The staff are fantastic and really understanding when it comes to changes over the course of the booking as both numbers and requirements evolve. They have been incredibly helpful and pleasant to deal with whenever I have phoned, and on the day everything went very smoothly.
The afternoon tea is well presented and the sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious! They also offer a great range of different teas which smell divine!
Everyone at the hen party loved the venue and had a great time over the course of the afternoon. The vintage hair & makeup was fantastic and set us up brilliantly for the evening.
My colleagues and I held a get together meeting here - we had a lovely welcome from the staff, our food was delicious, the music playlist we all loved... the gift shop has a wonderful array of gifts.
We would most definitely visit again! Such a quirky and fun concept.
Write a review... Had my birthday celebrations here on Saturday night. To be honest, wasn't quite sure how it would be for a night out. Had been previously for tea, cake and boardgames which was brilliant. Had been another time for early evening cocktails which again were great. Even been for a light dinner which was top notch. But never a night out. We were greeted at my reserved table with a bottle of champagne, party poppers and a confetti canon. Delicious cocktail menu, and the bar staff were incredibly obliging to all the Dry January-ers by making them off menu virgin cocktails on request. The atmosphere was wonderful - felt very different to other times I have been making Drink Shop Do a really versatile venue - it changes according to the time of day/day of the week. All of my fears about having to find somewhere livelier or larger to move on to were unwarranted. The downstairs opened at after a few hours, revealing a dance floor, club DJ and extra bar and seating.
Really the perfect venue. Can't recommend highly enough.
I haven't visited DSD for a couple of years, but on a recent visit I impressed by how much they've spruced up the place. The fun factor's gone up a few notches, and refreshment-wise, I could have scoffed at least three more mini lemon meringue pies if I wasn't happy sipping all the cups (at least four) of their rooibios bakewell tea. It's a great hangout with the girls and I'll definitely go back the next time I'm in the Kings Cross area - it'd be wrong not to.
Myself and 30 colleagues booked in for the pumpkin carving evening and had an absolute blast. The evening was really well organised and the lovely staff had no problem managing such a large group. For a tenner a head including a spooky welcoming drink, this was phenomenal value for money.
We're already planning our next outing here in January!
Just celebrated my 27th birthday with Drink Shop Do and it was a wonderful night. I'd booked a table downstairs by the dance floor and wasn't disappointed with my spot. All the staff at DSD we kind and courteous. Wednesday was helpful and there to offer a friendly smile. Plus brownie points for the door staff, J in particular for rescuing my birthday balloon!! Overall a great night and a definite recommendation to anyone wishing to celebrate a bday!
The best party ever! This place is ideal to organise your party (on the downstairs bar area) during the week. Everything was perfect!
I went to this place a few years ago, a friend suggested it after seeing positive reviews online (he didn't read them, just looked at the average). Before I go on I should say that I'm a mid 30's hetrosexual male; this point is very relevant to the following review.
After walking in it took a minute or so for the true horror of "DSD" to actually sink in and by then the first drink had been ordered - it had little home-made paper stars, adorned with glitter and chintzy hand drawn horses, etc hanging from the ceiling, grown women making bracelets from brightly colored, cheap plastic beads, men in patterned meggings sitting huddled in corners around school desks crocheting WWII fighter planes onto cloth whilst sipping from tiny flower-patterned teacups. A cross between a primary school activity area and a rehab center for people beginning their recovering from a serious emotional trauma is my best attempt at describing the atmosphere. I think by the time I'd managed to rinse my beer down, my testosterone count was down about 50%.
Clearly people like me aren't the target demographic of this place and perhaps the above review is a little unfair, but I think other should be warned lest they make the same mistake as I.
3 stars however as for the most part, people who this bar is aimed at seem to love it and also to offset some of the above.
Great time at DSD for my friend's hen party. Staff friendly, food tasty, atmosphere lovely. The table was decorated beautifully too. The only thing that could have been improved was that some the teas weren't quite hot enough, and it took a long time for coffee orders to arrive. Apart from that, great fun! Thank you!
I had my birthday bash at DSD ad it was great - really loved the upstairs and booked a table as well as some pre-prepared buckets of beer and cocktails (so no que-ing at the bar!) Saturday nights are great, the music is a great range, loads of people on the dance floor downstairs and if it gets too hot and sweaty downstairs the upstairs is light and refreshing!
I don't know what the big fuss is about, £28 for a half a stand of finger sandwiches and cut up cakes?! £16 to make a sash out of old bedsheets?!? Come on.... Get real! Plus all that 'craft' was done in the dark as they rely on a skylight and with no space to actually do anything worth keeping!!
I'll give it a few stars for the idea, the decor and the quality of the food, but it could have been executed much better and I didn't think the staff was very friendly at all
DSD was the only place in London I wanted to celebrate my 30th, and it didn't disappoint! Lovely staff helped me organise it all - beforehand and on the night - and all my guests were super impressed by the Dome Room, the drinks, and the music on the dance floor! Can't wait to go back soon. Thanks Grace and the rest of the DSD crew!
I have been coming for years, for business meetings, dates, birthdays and most recently a hen party. I love the concept, and have done clay, lego robots, pimp your sunglasses, face painting and more on my various trips! The only negative is that sometimes the service feels slow (as I've often only been allowed table service, so you have to wait) but even that isn't enough to keep me away! Last weekend we also boogied away downstairs for the first time, and loved the music choices. Woohoo.
Second party I've attended at Drink Shop Do and this time I hosted it - and both were a great success. Missed out on the more glamorous upstairs room on this occasion but the atmosphere never disappoints wherever you are in the venue. Staff were very friendly and helpful, cocktails were fun and the music neutral enough to suit everyone. The fact that it's so close to the main train stations too mean it's ideal or friends coming from all directions. It's a venue you can stay in till the end! Recommended.
Booked Drink Shop Do for a friend's baby shower and it was a perfect venue with a great atmosphere & helpful staff. We loved the mix of vintage afternoon tea & quirky cocktail bar, which meant we could move seamlessly from Breakfast Teas to Bellinis...And testament to how good it was, I'm now booking my team do there and we have a list going around the office of all the craft events to sign up to. Balloon bending is a winner!
I organised my sisters hen do at Drink Shop Do as we love it there anyway and it didn't disappoint! Organising the event was sooo easy. We made fascinators which is one of the many activities DSD offer. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We were booked into the Dome room, which added glamour to our event!
The tables were beautifully set with little tea cups and heart lollies, a really unexpected but lovely touch
I would definitely organise another event here - Thank you
I booked out the Dome Room upstairs for my Birthday do and it was the perfect size for 35+ people. The room was lovely, clean and with really nice furniture. The staff were super friendly and the cocktails delicious. It made for the perfect night out as we were able to go for a dance downstairs too. Saved all my girl friends hobbling round in heels trying to find different venues! Thank you!
I celebrated my 30something birthday at DSD on Saturday and it lived up to the promise of wide ranging music, friendly atmosphere, excellent cocktails and dancing. As a smallish venue it was easy to feel relaxed and the dancing started early. I enjoyed everything about the night.
DSD is one of my favourite places in London. I recently organised a surprise baby shower there for a friend and it was a wonderful evening. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the service was brilliant and the food was delicious. We all had a fantastic time and will definitely be back.
I would highly recommend a visit to DSD. It's a great, quirky venue with a good selection of food and drinks and very attentive staff. I have always been a big fan of DSD and so contacted the venue when I was looking for a venue to host a workshop for the women's career network leadarise.com. We wanted our own space in an informal setting and so the back room at DSD was ideal. The booking system was very efficient and the staff were particularly helpful and friendly on the night.
I decided to have my 25th birthday at DSD, and I was not disappointed - it was probably one of the best birthdays I've had to date! The booking system is quick and easy, with a £50.00 deposit that can be redeemed on the night. I had quite a few guests but the staff were very friendly and accommodating. One of the best things about DSD is the 1920s gin cocktail bar downstairs where you can have a tipple and a dance. I cannot recommend this place enough - most definitely one of my favourite haunts in London.
DSD is one of those nice little places to stumble upon that really make your day in London when you find them. Having found it last summer it's been a very happy and colourful place to hang out for just coffee and cake or some cocktails in their bar downstairs. Recently we also used it for a special occasion and we were very impressed with the non-fuss management of the event at quite short notice and friendly staff. The place itself has such a great atmosphere and personality you don't need to arrange for additional deco and details but you of course you still can! Try the Rose and Pistachio cake - it's a lovely one even if you're a loyal chocoholic like me! On top of that they're so conveniently located near King's Cross too!
A great place to visit for a special event. The staff are friendly and helpful in this vintage style venue. There's no airs or graces just a relaxed cosy atmosphere. The afternoon tea and 'Do' was a great idea for a celebration that allows people to relax and enjoy each others company. I would definitely recommend DSD for a special event but would equally return for drinks another night.
Following a glowing recommendation from a friend of mine and having visited DSD for lunch this summer I decided to have my birthday celebrations here. It was really easy to reserve a table (and free!), every single one of the staff I spoke to were extremely accommodating and my friends and I had a wonderful evening building Lego robots whilst drinking very nommy drinks! There's also a good selection of food for those who are gluten allergic etc as a student, though, it's a little pricey so this is definitely a place to visit on a special occasion.
This place comes HIGHLY recommended. We did a stag do here and wanted something a bit different; they delivered. The place itself is a vibrant and buzzing space located conveniently close to Kings Cross St Pancras (a two/three minute walk). The main space is a high-ceilinged cornucopia of craft pieces, artwork and unique pieces of vintage furniture and furnishings. Before you shelve it into the usual ‘girly crafty’ genre, you realize that the sheer aliveness of the place – combined with it’s terrific menu of cocktails, beers and surprisingly thorough selection of gins - makes it a modern chaps place of choice in Kings Cross. We did two activities; Lego robots and ‘Lionel Ritchie plasticine’. Original and pretty fun activities that made the lot of us feel as if we were back in the primary school playroom – all whilst drinking beer from a teacup. For an alternative stag do, they were a really great alternative to sitting in a pub. To accompany the activities, we had a Mans Afternoon Tea which was, well, pretty manly. Huge, filling sandwiches complete with pork scratchings and a Yorkie bar. Boom. The staff couldn’t be better; the service is quick and friendly, and they really didn’t care that we were a stag group. Too often venues either opt out of taking in stags or treat them with caution. Not here. We were treated like any other person who was there, which was refreshing. To wrap it up, we reserved a space at their club which runs from 8pm. The first great thing about this is that the £50 deposit actually goes straight behind the bar and is then yours to use. Then, although my memory is a tad hazy – again thanks to the selection of gin available – the club really gets going and it is a great place to spend the night. Again, great bar staff here and great music and surroundings. I’d definitely come back here for the club alone, but when you combine it with the afternoon tea and the activities, this is surely the place to go for the best alternative stag do in London. Or just for a good night out. Or for a gin. Or…well, you get the picture. One of London’s best kept secrets. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
