Headliners Comedy Club
© Huw Jennings
Originally set up by the legendary Malcolm Hardee, Up the Creek is an extraordinary, purpose-built club that's been around since the 1990s, and is still one of the best places to see live comedy. It's renowned for a lively ? some would say bear-pit ? atmosphere where only the strongest comics survive. On Sunday there's a more chilled feel to the 'Sunday Special Club', which makes it the perfect place to end the weekend.

The Headliners show I caught was funny and well worth the night out. The compere Richard Morton had me in stitches and his songs about Trump and the Royal family were hilarious. All the acts were really funny but for me Ian Stone stood out, partly as he was a dead ringer for David Baddiel. Popular topics that were picked on were Brexit, Trump, messy sex and parenting. The comedians mainly picked on younger members of the audience (cue the Calpol jokes) and as a result made jokes about growing old. I’ve been to Headliners a little over a year ago and these shows have become incredibly popular. The room was heaving. It has got such a great vibe. We were laughing and chatting with the party next to us. If you don’t have reserved seats, come early.

The pic doesn't do this venue justice! After a major refurbishment 2 years ago the Boston Room as it is now called, and the pub it is part of, George IV, are fantastic venues in the area. Great food, open mic and live music and plenty of events to choose from!
