Bond: then and now
Does the latest film 'Skyfall' refresh or rehash the James Bond franchise?
Judging from the trailer for his latest adventure ‘Skyfall’, James Bond is up to his old tricks again. Adam Lee Davies takes an in-depth look, and comes up with ten reasons why Bond fans are going to feel right at home…
In the ‘Skyfall’ trailer...
James goes ‘Jackass’ as he wangs himself down the escalators of the London Underground.
It’s a bit like that scene in...
The dreadful ‘Die Another Day’ (2002) set in the fictional Vauxhall Cross tube station beneath MI6 where Q (John Cleese) unveils the second most risible gadget (after No 8) ever to grace a Bond film – an invisible car.
New twist or tired rehash?
Almost anything that erases the memory of the above scene is to be welcomed, so we’re all for it. Plus, the idea of James being caught up in ‘planned delays’ on the Northern Line could well add street-level realpolitik to his usual spy shenanigans.
