Everything's Gonna Be Great

Film

Time Out says

A charming, if reckless buffoon, Altan (Yilmaz) is the sort of character the movies have been in love with since De Niro's Johnny Boy, or perhaps Phil Harris's Baloo the Bear. He runs into his straitlaced big brother Nuri (Alanson, in the Baghera role) after two years four months out of touch, and sticks to him long enough to break into his boss's safe and swipe the prescription drugs whose sale he hopes will be the making of his dream bar. It's a slap-happy jaunt, goofy and determinedly upbeat. Psychological realism is not its strong suit, and there's not much originality on show, but then the film-makers' only ambition seems to be to please. The beautiful impressionistic opening credits of street life by night might have dropped out of a different film.
