The ’80s civil war in El Salvador as seen through the eyes of an 11-year-old whose uncle – a guerilla soldier – comes to visit. Based on a true story, it’s well-meaning but packed with moments of Hollywood-style melodrama and cliché. Hard to fathom, really, exactly who it’s aimed at; it’s simplifications and stereotypes are inadequate for adult drama, but kids probably won’t be interested in the material.
