Time Out says

Not even Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan’s charisma can save this thriller about a blind man avenging his wife

Even by Bollywood standards, the plot of revenge thriller ‘Kaabil’ is preposterous. A blind couple, Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) and Supriya (Yami Gautam), meet on a blind date (no kidding). It’s love ‘at first sight’ and the pair get married. But their newly found bliss is shattered when Supriya is raped by two local thugs. Since one of the perpetrators is the brother of a corrupt politician, the equally bent cops refuse to investigate. So Rohan embarks on a one-man vigilante mission to eliminate those responsible.

Prepare to be disappointed if you were expecting this to be a serious exploration of the discrimination people with disabilities face in India. Director Sanjay Gupta seems to be obsessed with Korean thrillers (‘Oldboy’, ‘Broken’) and Tarantino (his 2002 film ‘Kaante’ is based on ‘Reservoir Dogs’). So expect lots of dimly lit shots, rain and gore. This is essentially a star-vehicle for leading man Roshan. He tries his best to hold it together and almost succeeds, through sheer star power. But in addition to some iffy, borderline prejudice in places, there's an unforgivable use of a classic song ‘recreated’ (as the soundtrack states) as a trashy dance number.
