The release of ‘My Week with Marilyn’ on November 25 2011 will again put the spotlight on an actress who was never short of attention during a short but sensational career as an actress in 1950s Hollywood. 10. River of No Return (1954)

If there’s one observation you could make from Monroe’s film career, it’s that she had a great eye for quality studio directors. Having already worked with Hawks, Huston, Lang and Cukor, she then shimmied in front of Otto Preminger’s camera for this, the director’s only western. What makes this an even more lip-smacking prospect is that her leading man is Robert Mitchum, an actor who, in terms of his towering frame and unbridled machismo, was the perfect foil to Monroe’s cute, coy, curvy coquette.
