The tango took root in Buenos Aires in the late 19th century and gradually spread to Europe and beyond, but it was two dancers - Maria Nieves Rego and Juan Carlos Copes - who helped to propel the art form into the mainstream. They were lovers as well as partners, and their raw emotions fed into their choreography and erotically charged chemistry on the stage. This documentary reunites Maria and Juan, who are now in the eighties, to reminisce about these remarkable years.
