Barry Wordsworth conducts Peter Wright's stirring production of Marius Petipa's romantic ballet, after original choreography by Jules Perrot and Jean Coralli, performed live at the Royal Opera House in London. First staged in St Petersburg in 1884, Giselle centres on the eponymous peasant girl, who falls madly in love with a villager named Loys. She discovers that Loys is in fact Count Albrecht in disguise and this revelation about his true identity has devastating and tragic consequences.
