I love documentaries and this one I dug out on netflix a few weeks ago. I was moved to tears several times watching this. It tells the true story of women in Pakistan who have been the victims of acid attacks, usually by their own husbands or men to whom they had declined a proposal. A British plastic surgeon (the one who did a lot of the work on model Katie Piper) and (who is Pakistani by birth) travels out to see whether he can operate on some of the women and help improve their situations. It's an incredibly shocking piece, but there are also some beautiful characters who you feel you get to know a bit throughout. It certainly drives the feeling of vast differences between the UK and Pakistan by way of womens' rights and law (until recently an acid attack on a woman was not a punishable crime). This documentary is absolutely worth watching, there are also some very sweet moments seeing the women with their children and the incredible female lawyer representing them too.
