Time Out says

A charming antidote to the technological thrust of Pixar, Dreamworks and the like, this Danish fantasy tale is told entirely through the use of marionettes. A wooden Prince Hal Tara sets off from his kingdom to avenge the apparent murder of his father, the Emperor of Hebalon, by their sworn enemy, the Zeriths. The characters’ strings – rather than being hidden – are integral to this moody revenge tale. The strings are literally the characters’ lifelines: one snip and they’re done for. And if you’ve ever wondered how a marionette can make love without all those strings getting tangled up? Well, that’s the point.
