The Crossing

Film, Drama
Strong performances, good dialogue and intriguing characterisation make this multi-character melodrama an initially promising prospect. A film about the ways people live with their pasts and their secrets, ‘The Crossing’ has the potential to be something special, despite a noticeably low budget. But director Demirdelen can’t think of anywhere interesting to take his characters, and an initial sense of disquieting ambiguity is destroyed by a finale drowning in bland schmaltz.
