Half-term activities for kids
Sporting heroes at Kidzania
Westfield London’s epic destination for imaginative play gives kids the chance to have a go at grown-up jobs – everything from airline pilots and dentists to shop keepers and firemen. With specially created settings and hands-on, costumed experiences, it’s a wonderland for ages four to 14, with new features are being added all the time. For half-term, pint-sized visitors can now become cricketers at a mini recreation of Lord’s Cricket Ground, or to become a WWE Superstar. kidzania.co.uk
Winnie-the-Pooh: Exploring a Classic
You loved the Bowie exhibition. Grandpa adored the Pink Floyd one. Now take the kids (and grandpa) to this delightfully presented show inviting you into the world created by AA Milne and EH Shepard, in which an overweight teddy and his friends stumbled over life lessons in small, daily adventures. Throughout its run there are also weekly drop-in events and special family sessions (check the website for details). www.vam.ac.uk
New arrivals at Sea Life
We are reliably informed that love is in the air for Valentine’s at Sea Life London on the South Bank. Not sure you and your brood will notice the difference between an amorous stingray and a disinterested Bowmouth shark, but the arrival of eight new Gentoo penguins this month is part of a global breeding programme. Maybe just go along and enjoy yourselves rather than mentioning frisky penguins to the kids. Unless you want some awkward questions on the way home… www.visitsealife.com
