Study Day

Professor Simon Keefe (University of Sheffield) and Professor John Irving (University of London) host a study day examining the ways in which Mozart combined life as a performer and as a composer, including performances of his music by John Irving on a copy of a c.1795 Anton Walter fortepiano. A discussion on Mozart's Viennese piano concertos, both the contexts in which they were written and what the autograph scores of the works reveal about his negotiation of performing and compositional concerns.
