Before the fame and the booze and the tabloid ubiquity, before Blake and 'Back to Black' and the beehive, Amy Winehouse was just an ultra-talented young singer from north London. In 2003, a few months before she released her debut album 'Frank', she was photographed by Charles Moriarty in London and New York. One of those photos appeared on the album cover, and now Moriarty is crowdfunding the release of a photo book which will feature many more for the first time.
'Before Frank' includes a foreword by Asif Kapadia, director of last year's Oscar-winning documentary 'Amy', and will include 50 to 60 images as well as Moriarty's contact sheets. Pledge £30 or more to the Kickstarter campaign and you'll get a first edition and an invitation to the book launch and exhibition in London. Here's a preview, including some Time Out exclusives, of these special photographs depicting a London music icon.
