As befits a building that dates back to 1934, The SSE Arena, Wembley has history aplenty running through it. Everybody from Abba to ZZ Top have played there, which is testament to the arena’s special ability to be both intimate and mega at the same time.
Nowadays, The SSE Arena, Wembley continues to move forward, thanks to lots of exciting new developments (look out for a unique London Designer Outlet and, from 2018, a brand new Boxpark), and it’s still very much the place where good bands go to become incredible bands and put on mind-blowing shows. But in all its gleaming musical history, one thing it hasn’t done is host the renowned MTV EMAs. That’s about to change.
Now in their 24th year, this is the first time the MTV EMAs have been to The SSE Arena, Wembley – though it’s their second time in London and the third time that the show has been held at an SSE venue, after 2011’s awards at The SSE Arena, Belfast, and 2014’s bash at The SSE Hydro.
To celebrate, the venue is giving one lucky winner two VIP tickets to a show of their choice at The SSE Arena, Wembley, plus access to the exclusive SSE Rewards lounge. Yep, you get to pick.
Want to scream out those high notes alongside Josh Homme at a Queens Of The Stone Age gig? No problem. Fancy kicking back to the inimitable Kendrick Lamar? Sure thing. Gagging to catch US comedy don Chris Rock make the arena erupt with laughter? Good choice. How about watching alternative indie heroes Arcade Fire do their kooky, twisted-disco thing in an incredible setting? Consider it done – all at London’s most intimate arena, where you can get up close and personal with your favourite act.
