Time Out says
Southbank's festival of circus and cabaret is back with a shiny new name and an even shinier new line-up
Southbank's biggest summer festivals, London Wonderground and Udderbelly, are teaming up for a third year to stage Underbelly Festival. In specially built tents on Southbank, Underbelly Festival hosts a bustling line-up of the four Cs: cabaret, circus, comedy and children's theatre.
Underbelly Festival's 2019 line-up includes sets from top comedians Lost Voice Guy, Nina Conti and Abandoman. There's also the return of long-running bonnetted smash 'Austentatious', a host of spectacular international circus shows including 'A Simple Space', and turns from slick cabaret stars like Le Gateau Chocolat and Cocoa Butter Club. The venue's newly expanded Kids Festival also boasts a jam-packed line-up of inventive ways to entertain children, including CBeebies faves Twirlywoos, and the junior edition of choose-your-own-adventure theatre from imrpov troupe The Showstoppers.
Underbelly Festival is keen to lure Southbank crowds in whether or not they're seeing a show. The fest's riverside spot is packed with food and drink stalls and fairground rides that make it a one-stop-shop for outdoor fun, all summer long.
