Living Stereo RCA (60 CDs)

Yes, 60 compact discs containing a feast of superb stereo sound, great music and legendary performances. What a Christmas treat! Living Stereo was RCA's contribution to stereo recording when it was in its infancy, and today still gives reproduction that is wonderfully vivid, tangible and truthful.

Much music is contained on these discs - popular orchestral showpieces and symphonies, numerous concertos for piano and for violin, a cornucopia of music from different ages and in many styles. Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Richard Strauss ('Also Sprach Zarathustra'), Bartók, Chopin, Stravinsky, Dvorák ('New World Symphony'), Ravel ('Daphnis et Chloé'), Puccini ('La bohème', 'Turandot', 'Madama Butterfly'), Mahler, Berlioz and Gershwin. Who could ask for anything more? The conductors and soloists read like a Who's Who: Fritz Reiner, Charles Munch, Mario Lanza, Jascha Heifetz, Arthur Rubinstein, Leontyne Price, Julian Bream and Jussi Björling. A real treasure trove.
