The Merbecke Choir of Southwark Cathedral directed by Huw Morgan celebrates the 450th birthday of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, 'the Orpheus of Amsterdam', with a selection of his most beautiful choral music. They will also be singing works by the Renaissance composers Richard Dering and Peter Philips, Englishmen who lived and worked in the Netherlands during Sweelinck's life. Plus, music by the twentieth-century Dutchmen Jurriaan Andriessen and Daan Manneke, and a new work by Michael Bonaventure.
