Has the burrito bar trend peaked with the arrival of the huge and much-hyped Chipotle chain from the US? Judging by the queues out into the street during Chipotle’s first week – up to half an hour just to reach the counter – Londoners still can’t get enough of them.

The appeal of the burrito is obvious: lots of squidgy stuff in your hands, bold flavours, instant gratification once you get stuck in.

Chipotle claims to be a cut above the existing London burrito bars, and it certainly charges premium prices for its wraps filled with ‘food with integrity’, but it’s still a fast food joint, not a place for lingering.

The most popular dish is the chicken burrito at £6.60, made with grilled ‘higher welfare’ chicken that’s been marinated in chipotle adobo (a paste made from chipotle chilli).

Other fillings include braised beef, grilled steak, pork and a vegetarian black bean option. There are also tacos and salads, but these are for wimps. And is it just us, or is the ‘medium hot’ salsa actually pretty tame?

Decent burritos, then, but not sensational enough to light our fire.

I love Chipotle. It's the best place to get a quick & hearty meal when you're on a rush and in need of some comfort food. They offer a selection of different meats & veggies, which is great for vegetarians, coupled with their famous guacamole (for which you have to pay extra but come's not Chipotle without it!).

Rather than their burrito I love their salad bowls, in which you can put whatever you want, rice, beans, chicken...anything! Prices are good and staff is usually very friendly.

A pleasant Mexican grill bar that offers the best fast food (healthy in my opinion) for those nights where your probably in a rush or you just hungry and you don't want to spend too much on food.

Well Chipotle has it for you, if your a big fan of tacos or burritos then this is the place for you.

I have never heard of Chipotle, so this was a first for me. I must confess, I'm not a huge fan of tacos or burritos, but I pleasantly enjoyed what I ordered.

I ordered a chicken burrito with cilantro-lime brown rice and pinto beans with a fresh tomato salsa, lettuce and cheese. It came beautifully wrapped in foil and served in a basket. It does look impeccably executed and the taste was delicious. Possibly too spicy for me, but I still enjoyed it.

My other half ordered soft flour tacos which was equally exquisite in taste and presentation.

The meat on the menu is very interesting and the choices are great. You do get enough for your money and the prices are affordable. You can definitely spend under £15 for two and be completely full for the night. Also one thing I should mention is that they only use responsibly raised meat or organic tofu. Definitely want to try the tofu next time.

I don't find it majorly exciting, but it's a good place if you love Mexican tacos and burritos.

The interior is felt like an American diner to me.

The way the seats were situated and placed inside the middle gave me that feeling.

All and all, it was a lovely treat.

Definitely worth going back again.

Enjoy Chipotle!!

Love MD.

I don't have anything against chipotle. Its been there for me on cold nights when I've wanted the mess and fullness of all that bashful burrito!

My only complaint ,which is a big one, is that this branch in particular are incredibly stingy with the chicken! Bloody hell. They'll pile on the beef pork and maybe even veggies but God forbid you get more than a few pieces of chicken.I don't get it. Chicken is cheap and easy to get so why the stringent attitudes? *sigh* I guess I'll never know

Definitely the best authentic burrito in the town. Expensive yet addictive.

Love, love, love chipotle. I know it's a chain, but that's part of what makes it so unbelievably appealing, you know what to expect in every chipotle you go and I've been around 3 times and have yet to be disappointed. It is simple, yet what makes it so good is that ll of the components are fresh and tasty, besides who doesn't love personalizing an order? It's like subway for burritos, and it's fast food but it doesn't look or taste anything like fast food.

I've ordered a mass delivery for the office from these guys before, as well as been into the actual store. Yes, I hear ya, Chipotle is a chain. But get over it people, cause it's good! I particularly like the salad bowls they do - not shy on the meat and toppings, nice spicy salad dressing. Service is always friendly and enthusiastic and the price point is right. Warning: the burritos are so fully loaded with delicious things that you'll be in a coma for the rest of the afternoon.

Chipotle is a no-frills selfservice and take-away restaurant with a delightful short no-frills menu. You can choose the filling of your burrito or taco. The ingredients are definitely very tasty and of high quality and meat and chicken come from farm assured, organic sources - something you will not find easily elsewhere. I chose my burrito with chicken, lovely brown rice, salsa, sour cream, black beans and cheese. As a side I ordered tortilla chips and guacamole. The burrito was the best I ever had and believe me I had quite a lot in a lot of restaurants in different countries. Fresh, tasty, generous. The kind of burrito which puts a smile into your face and makes you think 'Wow caramba'. The tortilla chips are fresh and superb and do not resemble the salty fatty stuff you tend to get elsewhere. The guacamole is fresh and delightful. There is also a choice of softdrinks and even beer. I had a belvoir elderflower, my husband had a Corona with his incredibly good steak burrito. And on top? The restaurant is clean and tidy, the staff is friendly, professional, genuinely smiling and easy-going, the music is plesant and not loud and you can sit down and relax. All that will not ruin you moneywise. Prices are very very moderate considering the tasty, high quality, wow caramba food you get. Chipotle really saved our evening after another experience in another restaurant earlier that evening. VIVA CHIPOTLE!!!

Without a doubt the best burrito that you can buy in central London.

I had a burrito and I found it to be very stodgy! I would probably try the lighter options next time! On the other hand, this restaurant had a few good points! Everything is fresh and made on site.. I even witnessed one of the staff mashing some avocados! In comparison to tortilla at canary wharf it is 100 times better!!

The best burrito restaurant in the capital. no doubt. get the steak - delicious meaty chunks - and the sweetcorn relish, which is a Chipotle special. Slightly more price than other burrito houses, however it's by the freshest, tastiest and has the best quality meat. Trust - the legwork has been done.

Love it! It's the perfect quick and healthy lunch (less the sour cream). The que out the door looks long but you'll be in and out the door in a jiffy and trust me it's worth the wait! The food is fresh and tasty, and the prices are reasonable.

Nice fast food. The chicken was the only meat non salty that night. Guacamole as an extra £1.40 is a steal. Nice atmosphere and very nice staff.
