Fashion prints adorn the walls at this elegant music venue with three bars. A menu featuring the likes of pan-fried swordfish, fillet steak, and spinach and ricotta tortellini is served until late. The door men there are bullies and very very rude. They harass women who go there on their own . They behave like they own this place. This is not the first time it has happened..this is the 3rd and I thought I should share this with all the wonderful ladies out there who want to go out and have a good time with their friends. Be warned they will ruin your evening...shame that as the place is quite jolly..
I went here on a Saturday night to celebrate a good friends birthday and was hugely disappointed. Overpriced and tasteless food. Slow and rude Service. Overpriced drinks. Disgusting cocktails. Even the band were bad. I felt very uncomfortable all night as it turns out this is where all the middle aged swingers (not in the musical sense!) come to 'party'. Unless you fit in to this last category I really would steer clear!
The jamaican door man keep harassing womem and if he is ignore then he wont let them in the next time the want to go to that place. That guy shouldnt be working in a place like that.
25th Feb 2012 - Terrible food, completely overpriced, with an excessive use of hollandaise sauce - it accompanied multiple dishes on the menu randomly. I personally had the sea bass with roasted vegetables. Sea bass lacked flavour, vegetables were not roasted and the it was like the top came off the cinammon on the sweet potato- so much on it!. If you want to feel like you're on a 1980s cruise ship with appalling food, this is the place for you. Anyone with taste, steer well clear.
We went to Dover Street Bar (8-10 Dover Street, London, W1S 4LQ) on Friday 17 Feb 2012. Our plan was some drinks and live music. According to their leaflets the entrance was free before 10pm. Well, it turned out it wasn’t. The bouncer insisted that the bar does not open until 10.15 (yeah, right) and that’s when they start charging for entry (so called ‘music cover’). A VERY RUDE bouncer would not let us in before 10pm because we were not call girls. Our dresses must have given us away. However, we shouldn’t have, but we still came back to the bar after 10.15pm, paid our entry and the same bouncer just kept harassing us at the reception area for no reason, we weren’t even talking to him. The same at the end of the night – we were leaving, collecting our coats and he was still harassing us! He refused to give me his name and then he even covered up his number. The reception girls wouldn’t give me his name and quite frankly it appeared to me that he bullies them as well! A very disgusting individual. And we were not drunk or fighting or being noisy, we are just three rather modest ladies. As for the night, the band was supposed to play songs from 60’ to 90’, but you could hardly hear any familiar tunes. It wasn’t much different to what the DJ played after the band left and he had no clue whatsoever about what to play for the present clientele. The bar’s policy states ‘no trainers’, but I still spotted a guy in trainers, probably the bouncer’s friend, how else would he have missed it.
Beautiful jazzy place, enjoyed the music and the food was excellent, really enjoyed the meal I had fish soup and sea buss and for dessert was cheese cake. Only little disappointed with the service the floor manager named Jimmy was not helpful and rude.
Great place, Had such fun all night, the band was brilliant and the dj kept the party going, Very impressed with the food, the steak was the best ive had in london, 30 years and still going strong well done dover street one of a kind!
