This bar and restaurant is set within the swanky Soho Hotel, tucked away in Richmond Mews. Creative cocktails do brisk business, but it's the dining opportunities that perhaps prove more of a draw these days, with breakfasts, brunches, afternoon teas and a la carte meals doing as much of a trade as the libations.

There's a modern-European feel to that a la carte menu, with dishes including a goat's cheese and caramelised onion pastry served with a pear and walnut salad, a crispy ham hock fritter with apple, radish and Pommery mustard mayo, and a fillet of salmon pan-fried and served with samphire, piquillo peppers and basil oil. Char-grilled tuna with a sauce vierge proves popular, too.

The drinks list includes various bar bites, including mezze platters, small plates and pizzas. They're served alongside a cocktail list ranging from bellinis, martinis and caipirinhas to signature cocktails from bars from across the Firmdale Hotels group - of which Refuel is one. Expect a long wine list focusing on the old world, too.

I was invited to come and have a drink at this bar by one of the staff, who I knew from another hotel bar in the Firmdale chain. I was not disappointed and I have returned there a bunch of times, with the last two visits bringing friends to sample the lovely drinks and awesome atmosphere. I recommend booking just to be sure you get to have a seat and take it all in: the beautiful mural behind the bar (tells a story of a woman driving into a city, very Gatsby-esque), the very attentive and thoughtful staff (shoutout to Justin and Kome) and of course the Kit Kemp styled décor. I really like everything about this place. Yes, the drinks can be a bit on the pricey side, but what you pay for isn't just booze. It's the ambiance. It's the detail. It's the celeb spotting (I saw Emma Thompson there last time, and have seen Jimmy Carr and Karolina Kurkova, among others). It's the happiness of the staff while they serve a Soho bar crammed with people. I highly recommend it..

The picture I've attached is of one of their gin experiences - I am slowly working my way through the list ;)

Refuel is a truly wonderful bar. Staff are very attentive, the setting is exceptionally cool. It gets busy so book if you can. It's a relaxed place, great to unwind with friends or for business. It has a great buzz about it.

Refuel is a really good option is if is getting late in Soho and you need an extra special cocktail (and maybe nibbles) and everywhere else seems packed. Its a classy affair and one time I even saw Gary Linekar on the next table - err yah! If you're going for food, take a look online as sometimes they have deals like three courses for £30 which can make it might easier. Alternatively I've been in there late when I have been OUT OUT and had high priced cocktails and wine (the last time I went the bill was about £60 each for drinks alone, so keep an eye on that). The setting is super cool with little details like toy cars underneath the glass on the table plus it is chilled out so recommend for quiet dinner/drinks and easy to chat.

Refuel Bar is a hidden away bar based in the Soho hotel off Wardour Street. It attracts lot of media and film industry types being so close to the creative film houses. The décor is luxuriant and ambient lighting. There is a great selection of drinks and snacks on offer on the bar menu. A great place to socialise with friends or go on a date within London that isn’t too noisy or busy. I really like their apple martinis and bellini cocktails, very good although a bit on the pricy side.

A great hotel bar in soho for after work drinks or to catch up with friends. It's pricey but great drinks menu and it is always buzzy.

After visiting Refuel, I can confirm the staff went out of there way to provide a truly lovely experience. From the moment we booked the table the staff were interested and keen. The meal was good, the chef creative and the unexpected chocolate for my daughters belated birthday went down a treat. I will return.
