‘Rome MMXVII’ Season at the Barbican

  • What is it?

The RSC’s productions of ‘Titus Andronicus’ and ‘Julius Caesar’ at the Barbican – exclusively discounted for Time Out.

    Why buy?

Following on from the success of their production of Coriolanus, the Royal Shakespeare Company continues their ‘Rome MMXVII’ season at the Barbican this winter with two more of the Bard’s Roman-era plays.

There’s ‘Titus Andronicus’: the revenge tale of the Titus, the general who after ten years of fighting abroads returns to Rome with Tamora, Queen of the Goths as his prize prisoner. Filled with killing, counter-killing, rape and severed limbs, this is widely recognised as Shakespeare’s bloodiest play and isn’t for the faint of heart.

There’s also ‘Julius Caesar’, Shakespeare’s take on the fall of the legendary Roman leader: a tale of political backstabbing in the most literal sense. Of course, anyone who knows the play will know that the real star is Brutus, the lead conspirator whose loyalty to his old friend Caesar is put to the test.

With our exclusive deal with the Barbican, tickets are a flat £25 each, saving you as much as 56 percent off standard ticket prices. Don’t miss these two highly anticipated productions.
